Delhi School Caretaker Granted Bail in Three-Year-Old Rape Case Amid Evidence Dispute and Allegations

A Delhi court granted bail to a 57-year-old school caretaker accused in the alleged rape of a three-year-old nursery student at SS Mota Singh School, citing CCTV evidence, absence of injuries in medical reports, and long service record. The case continues amid parental allegations of police misconduct and ongoing forensic investigation.

A 57-year-old caretaker employed at SS Mota Singh School in Janakpuri, Delhi, was arrested on April 30 after being accused of the rape of a three-year-old nursery student. The arrest was carried out on the same day under charges of rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

On May 7, a court granted bail to the accused, citing multiple factors presented during judicial review. These included CCTV footage indicating that the caretaker had left the junior wing of the school early, a medico-legal report that recorded no physical injuries on the child, his 30 years of previously unblemished service record, and his full cooperation with the investigation process.

Following the bail order, the case took a contentious turn as the child’s mother raised serious allegations. She claimed that a teacher was present inside a school storage room during the incident and further accused the police of issuing threats during the course of the investigation. The police have firmly denied all allegations of harassment and intimidation.

Meanwhile, forensic examination procedures remain ongoing as part of the continuing investigation into the incident. Separately, Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj amplified the family’s version of events through statements shared online, bringing additional public attention to the case.
