Headline: The Quint Unveils AI-Powered Chatbot to Counter Misinformation and Deliver Real-Time Fact-Checks
The Quint has launched an AI-powered chatbot in partnership with Meedan to combat misinformation and provide real-time fact-checks and news updates. The tool, trained on 200 recent stories, alerts journalists when needed and supports users in identifying false or misleading content, enhancing digital safety and media literacy.
Developed in partnership with Meedan, the chatbot aims to address the growing circulation of misleading and sensational messages, particularly those widely forwarded in private messaging groups. The tool enables users to receive fact-checks and news reports on the go, ensuring quick access to verified information.
At present, the system is trained on approximately 200 recent stories, including news reports published by The Quint. If the chatbot is unable to find a relevant response, the platform ensures that the query is escalated, and its team of journalists is alerted to conduct further investigation.
Users are also encouraged to share feedback in case of technical issues or inaccurate responses by contacting the dedicated support email, allowing continuous refinement of the system and improved accuracy over time.
While the chatbot offers rapid verification services, The Quint has clarified that its original tipline remains fully operational. Users can continue submitting suspicious messages and links, particularly those related to online scams and phishing attempts circulating across India, to help raise awareness and prevent digital fraud.
The platform has also noted that the chatbot currently does not support image or video inputs, limiting its functionality to text-based queries for now.
For users interested in learning more about verification techniques, The Quint has also recommended its dedicated fact-checking video series, which demonstrates professional journalistic methods used to verify information and debunk misinformation effectively.
The launch reflects a broader effort to integrate artificial intelligence with journalism, strengthening public access to accurate information while promoting digital literacy in an increasingly complex information environment.
