India May Reassess Conventional Missile Doctrine Amid Shifting Global Conflicts, Says Rajesh Kumar Singh

Rajesh Kumar Singh stated that India may reassess its conventional missile doctrine in response to changing global conflicts and evolving regional security dynamics. Speaking at the ANI National Security Summit 2.0, he highlighted the growing operational role of missiles, the importance of advanced defence systems, and the need to expand production beyond limited public-sector dependence to strengthen national defence preparedness.

India is likely to revisit its conventional missile approach as evolving global conflicts and Pakistan’s advancing military capabilities reshape strategic thinking, according to Rajesh Kumar Singh.

Speaking at the ANI National Security Summit 2.0, Rajesh Kumar Singh underlined the increasing importance of advanced weapons systems alongside strengthened air defence frameworks. He observed that missiles are no longer confined to strategic deterrence roles and are now being actively deployed in operational scenarios, reflecting a significant shift in modern warfare doctrines.

Singh stated that efforts to develop such capabilities will proceed in parallel with the expansion of production capacity. He further emphasised the necessity of broadening manufacturing participation beyond dependence on a single public-sector unit and the Defence Research and Development Organisation, calling for wider involvement from the domestic defence industry to meet future operational requirements.

He highlighted that a diversified production ecosystem is essential to ensure readiness and scalability in response to emerging security challenges. The remarks collectively point toward a strategic recalibration in India’s defence posture, driven by technological evolution and regional security dynamics.
