Eyewitness survivor Sangeeta Kori recounted that repeated pleas to return were ignored despite rapidly intensifying winds. She further stated that life jackets were distributed only after panic had already set in among passengers. Disturbing video evidence indicates that several passengers were not wearing life jackets prior to the incident, despite an existing weather alert warning of adverse conditions.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered a formal investigation into the incident. Administrative action was taken with the suspension of responsible staff members. Statewide cruise operations have been temporarily halted as a precautionary measure. The government has also announced compensation for the victims’ families while rescue teams continue intensive search operations for the missing individuals.
