Momentum Surges at Wadi Bunder as Vande Bharat Maintenance Yard Construction Hits Critical Milestone
Construction of the dedicated Wadi Bunder maintenance yard for Vande Bharat trains has gained momentum, reaching a 15 per cent completion milestone for civil and signalling work. Central Railway confirms that electrical and mechanical execution has commenced for the facility, which features five stabling lines and a massive 400-metre eco-friendly shed designed for the semi-highspeed rail fleet.
The facility is designed to feature five stabling lines, which will serve as designated spots where Vande Bharat rakes are to be parked and attended to. A Central Railway (CR) officer confirmed the steady progression of civil work and noted that parallel activities, including electrical and mechanical installations, are now moving into the execution stage. This infrastructure expansion is critical to ensuring the operational readiness and longevity of the high-speed rakes serving the region.
Architectural plans for the facility highlight a sprawling covered shed stretching 400 metres in length and 36 metres across. To enhance ventilation and trim power usage, the structure will incorporate solar tubes and roof-mounted ventilators. Furthermore, transparent polycarbonate panels will form part of the roof to let in natural daylight. This sophisticated maintenance hub at Wadi Bunder represents a specialized leap in rail infrastructure, ensuring that the Vande Bharat fleet remains supported by a cutting-edge, energy-efficient technical environment.
