BJP unveils its 31-point Assam manifesto ahead of April 9 elections, promising Rs 5 lakh crore investments, 2 lakh jobs, flood relief funding, UCC excluding tribal areas, and expanded welfare schemes as Himanta Biswa Sarma seeks a third term.
The manifesto pledges Rs 5 lakh crore in investments and the creation of 2 lakh government jobs, alongside a commitment of Rs 18,000 crore to make the state flood-free. It also promises the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code excluding tribal areas, as well as the introduction of laws targeting 'love jihad' and 'land jihad.' In the education sector, the party has assured free education from KG to PG, while proposing increased financial assistance for women under the Orunodoi 3.0 scheme.
Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted Assam’s transformation under BJP governance, stating that the state’s GDP has tripled since 2016. She asserted that violence has ended and peace has been restored, underscoring the party’s governance record as a key electoral plank.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is seeking a third term, positioning the manifesto as a continuation of development and stability initiatives. The document integrates economic commitments, legal frameworks, and welfare measures, reflecting a comprehensive electoral strategy.
