Weapons Displayed on the Streets: Hindu Raksha Dal Members Arrested in Ghaziabad Crackdown
Ghaziabad police arrested 10 Hindu Raksha Dal members after swords and axes were publicly displayed and distributed in Shalimar Garden. An FIR names 16 accused and 25–30 unidentified persons, while organisation president Pinky Chaudhary remains absconding.
The incident unfolded in the Shalimar Garden area, where members of the Hindu Raksha Dal gathered in public spaces and openly displayed sharp-edged weapons. According to police officials, the group told local residents to keep the weapons to defend themselves “against jihadis,” invoking recent reports of killings of Hindus in neighbouring Bangladesh as justification for their actions.
The display quickly drew concern from residents and prompted an emergency response from law enforcement. Police teams from three different stations were rushed to the area to bring the situation under control and prevent any escalation. Officers moved in to disperse the gathering, seize the weapons, and identify those involved.
As part of the operation, ten individuals were taken into custody. Police also registered a First Information Report (FIR) naming 16 accused persons, along with an additional 25 to 30 unidentified individuals suspected to be part of the incident. The case includes charges related to unlawful assembly and the public distribution of weapons, officials confirmed.
The organisation’s president, Pinky Chaudhary, has been named in the case but remains absconding. Police said efforts are underway to trace his whereabouts and determine the extent of his role in organising or endorsing the activity. Investigators are also examining whether the incident violated arms regulations or involved any wider mobilisation plans.
Authorities emphasised that no group or individual is permitted to take the law into their own hands or spread fear under the guise of protection. The Ghaziabad police said the situation in Shalimar Garden is now under control, with additional patrols deployed to reassure residents.
The episode has once again brought attention to the risks posed by vigilantism and public weaponisation in densely populated areas. Officials said firm action would continue against anyone attempting to disturb communal harmony or undermine public safety, underscoring that law and order remains the sole responsibility of the state.
