Noida Police Bust Blackmail Racket Targeting Couples in Public Parks

Noida Police have arrested three men accused of running a blackmail gang that targeted young couples in public parks, threatening them with secretly taken photos to extort money and mobile phones. Twelve phones and a car were seized as legal action continues.

In a decisive crackdown on street-level crime, Noida Police have dismantled a blackmail gang that preyed on young couples visiting public parks across the city. The operation has brought relief to residents after authorities uncovered a pattern of intimidation, extortion and theft carried out in seemingly safe public spaces.

According to police officials in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida district, the gang operated by secretly photographing newly acquainted couples during private moments in parks. The accused would then threaten to make the images public unless the victims paid money, often forcing them to hand over cash or mobile phones under pressure. The tactic exploited fear of social stigma, allowing the gang to operate discreetly while repeatedly targeting unsuspecting visitors.

Police confirmed the arrest of three men identified as Gajendra Solanki, Ritesh and Pawan. During searches conducted after their detention, officers recovered 12 mobile phones believed to be linked to the crimes, along with a car allegedly used to travel between locations and carry out the extortion activities. Investigators say the seized devices are being examined for further evidence and potential links to additional victims.

Authorities stated that legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is ongoing to determine whether more individuals were involved or if similar incidents had gone unreported. Police are also working to identify victims who may have been targeted but did not come forward due to fear or embarrassment.

The case underscores growing concerns over misuse of mobile technology for criminal intimidation and highlights the need for increased vigilance in public spaces. Police officials have urged citizens to report any such incidents promptly, assuring strict action and confidentiality. The arrests, officials said, send a clear message that harassment and blackmail in public areas will not be tolerated and that law enforcement remains committed to safeguarding public safety.
