Shortest Route Revamp Approved as Shivraj Singh Chouhan Pitches Roads and Water as Core Priorities in Vidisha–Raisen

Shivraj Singh Chouhan announces approval of a major road redevelopment plan in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha–Raisen region, including the revamp of the shortest Bhopal–Vidisha route via Salamatpur and Diwanganj, alongside a continued focus on water supply and highway expansion.

Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha–Raisen parliamentary region is set for a major infrastructure upgrade after senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the approval of a comprehensive road redevelopment plan aimed at improving connectivity and water access across the constituency. Emphasising development as a long-term administrative priority, Chouhan said the initiative reflects the government’s sustained focus on basic civic infrastructure.

Addressing the region’s needs, Chouhan underlined that ensuring reliable water supply has remained at the forefront of government policy in Vidisha–Raisen. Alongside this, he said extensive work is underway to strengthen the road network, with multiple projects progressing simultaneously to enhance mobility for residents, commuters, and commercial traffic.

He noted that the expansion and construction of national highways in the area are being complemented by improvements on key internal routes, creating a more integrated and efficient transport system. Among the most significant developments is the formal approval of a rejuvenation plan for the shortest route connecting Bhopal to Vidisha via Salamatpur and Diwanganj, a corridor widely used by daily commuters and transporters.

According to Chouhan, the project has moved beyond planning and has already received administrative clearance, paving the way for implementation. Once executed, the upgraded route is expected to substantially reduce travel time, ease congestion, and improve overall road safety, while strengthening economic and social links between Bhopal and surrounding districts.

Officials believe the approved projects will not only improve daily life for local residents but also support long-term growth by facilitating smoother transportation and better access to essential resources.
