Lawyers Stage Protest in Bareilly Over Delay in Arrests in Advocate Mahjabeen Murder Case

Lawyers in Bareilly staged a protest outside the collectorate over delays in arresting the accused in the murder case of advocate Mahjabeen. The demonstration saw heated exchanges with police as the legal community demanded swift action and raised concerns over law and order in Uttar Pradesh.

Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh — Tensions ran high in Bareilly on Tuesday as members of the legal fraternity launched a protest outside the district collectorate, demanding swift arrests in the murder case of advocate Mahjabeen. The demonstration underscored growing frustration over what lawyers described as a lack of decisive action by the police despite the seriousness of the crime.

The case pertains to the killing of advocate Mahjabeen within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station in Bareilly. According to protesting lawyers, no arrests have been made so far, triggering concerns over delays in the investigation and the broader state of law and order. As the protest gained momentum, lawyers gathered in significant numbers at the collectorate, raising slogans and calling for immediate intervention by the administration.

During the demonstration, a heated exchange broke out between the protesting lawyers and a police inspector present at the site. Eyewitnesses said the verbal confrontation reflected mounting anger among members of the Bar, who accused the police of inaction and demanded accountability. The situation remained tense for some time, though it did not escalate into physical violence.

Lawyers participating in the protest emphasized that their agitation was not merely about a single case but about ensuring justice and reinforcing public confidence in the legal system. They urged the authorities to expedite the investigation and arrest the accused at the earliest, warning that continued delays could further erode trust in law enforcement.
