₹25,000 Bounty Criminal Arrested After Gunfight With Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun
A ₹25,000 reward criminal was arrested after a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district. The accused opened fire during a routine check, was shot in the leg, and taken into custody. He faces nine serious criminal cases across Budaun and Amroha.
The incident took place in the Faizganj Behta police station area, where a police team was conducting vehicle checks as part of an ongoing crime control drive. According to police, the suspect attempted to evade arrest and opened fire on the team. In response, officers retaliated, striking the accused in the leg and overpowering him at the scene.
The injured suspect was immediately taken into custody and rushed to the Asafpur Community Health Centre (CHC), where he is currently undergoing treatment under police guard. Authorities confirmed that the accused has a substantial criminal history, with nine serious cases registered against him across Budaun and Amroha districts. These include charges related to attempted murder and multiple violations under the Arms Act.
Police officials stated that the operation was carried out under the supervision of Rural Superintendent of Police Hradesh Katheria and Circle Officer Bisauli. Senior officers noted that the arrest marks a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb violent crime in the region.
Law enforcement agencies have initiated further legal proceedings against the accused, while search operations are underway to track down other absconding associates linked to his criminal network. Police said they expect additional arrests in the coming days as the investigation progresses.
The encounter underscores the continued focus of Uttar Pradesh Police on cracking down on repeat offenders and organized criminal activity, particularly those involved in violent crimes that pose a threat to public safety.
