Fadnavis Calls on Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal, Jabalpur to Lead New Initiatives for Marathi Language Growth
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged the Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal, Jabalpur, to launch dedicated initiatives for the development and promotion of the Marathi language, assuring government funding to support education, preservation, and wider outreach of Marathi.
Addressing the role of academic and educational institutions in language preservation, Fadnavis said the Maharashtra government is prepared to extend financial support for initiatives focused on Marathi language development. He noted that such funding would help launch new programmes aimed at expanding the reach of Marathi in education, research, and public life.
The Chief Minister encouraged the Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal to utilise this opportunity to design and implement meaningful projects that contribute to the enrichment, propagation, and long-term safeguarding of the language. According to him, institutions with a legacy in education carry a special responsibility in nurturing linguistic identity while adapting to contemporary educational needs.
Fadnavis’ remarks underline the administration’s intent to collaborate with established educational bodies to strengthen regional languages through structured policies and targeted funding. By linking government support with institutional initiative, the state aims to ensure that Marathi not only retains its cultural significance but also gains renewed relevance in modern academic and social contexts.
The call is seen as part of a larger effort to reinforce Marathi as a cornerstone of Maharashtra’s identity, ensuring its sustained growth through education-driven initiatives that can leave a lasting impact on future generations.
