Born in 1540 at Kumbhalgarh Fort, Maharana Pratap ascended the throne of Mewar in 1572 and ruled until 1597. He is remembered for firmly rejecting alliance proposals from Emperor Akbar and choosing a path of resistance to protect his kingdom’s independence.
One of the most defining chapters of his life was the Battle of Haldighati in 1576, where he fought valiantly against the Mughal forces. During the battle, his loyal horse Chetak played a crucial role in carrying him to safety, becoming a lasting symbol of loyalty and bravery in Indian history.
Following the battle, Maharana Pratap adopted guerrilla warfare strategies and strengthened alliances with Bhil tribal communities. By the early 1580s, his efforts enabled him to reclaim significant parts of his lost territory, restoring resistance against imperial expansion and reinforcing regional autonomy.
On the occasion of his birth anniversary, prominent leaders including Yogi Adityanath and General V. K. Singh offered floral tributes, acknowledging his extraordinary courage and patriotism. Across the country, statues, memorials, and public displays featuring his inspiring quotations reflected widespread respect for his unyielding stand for honour and freedom.
