The incident took place on the night of May 2. Aman had reportedly stepped outside his house after dinner when Sufiyan and Sameer, both residents of the same neighborhood, arrived on a motorcycle. According to eyewitness accounts, the two men took Aman a short distance away from his home and began assaulting him.
During the altercation, Sufiyan allegedly fired a country-made pistol at Aman’s temple from point-blank range. The victim collapsed on the ground in a pool of blood after sustaining the gunshot injury. Family members rushed him to Anand Hospital on Garh Road in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment on May 3.
Following the incident, police registered a case against unidentified individuals and launched an investigation. Using CCTV footage, mobile phone location tracking, and call detail records, investigators first arrested Sameer and later apprehended the main accused, Sufiyan.
Police officials stated that while taking Sufiyan for the recovery of the weapon used in the murder, the accused allegedly opened fire on the police team. In retaliatory action, police shot him in the leg before taking him into custody. Both accused have since been sent to jail.
The deceased’s father, Muntiyaz, alleged that the murder was linked to a romantic relationship involving a young woman from the neighborhood and Sufiyan. According to him, Aman had informed the woman’s family about the relationship, which allegedly angered both the woman and Sufiyan.
Muntiyaz claimed that the woman conspired with Sufiyan to orchestrate Aman’s murder. After the incident, the woman and her family reportedly fled the area. Police said the house was found locked and further investigation into the allegations is ongoing.
The emergence of the viral firing video has now added a new dimension to the investigation. Police are examining the authenticity of the footage while also probing the accused’s possible criminal network and previous criminal activities.
Authorities have also taken cognizance of the firing video and are preparing to register an additional criminal case against Sufiyan, who is already imprisoned in connection with Aman’s murder.
