Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said India has emerged as a pillar of stability in the Indian Ocean Region while addressing the 10th Indian Ocean Dialogue in New Delhi. He highlighted India’s commitment to maritime security, rapid crisis assistance and regional cooperation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Highlighting India’s growing maritime influence, Mr Sonowal said the country is actively shaping a secure, inclusive and prosperous Indian Ocean Region under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that India remains committed to strengthening regional cooperation and enhancing collective maritime security across the strategically significant region.
The Minister further stated that India is looking forward to a highly constructive chairship of the Indian Ocean Rim Association. He said the country aims to build a resilient and future-ready maritime environment for the Global South through stronger partnerships, coordinated policies and sustainable regional development initiatives.
Addressing delegates at the high-level dialogue, Mr Sonowal underscored India’s commitment to ensuring stability, safety and rapid humanitarian support in shared maritime spaces. His remarks reflected India’s broader vision of playing a leading role in shaping the future of the Indian Ocean Region amid evolving geopolitical and economic challenges.
