Headline: Passenger Catches TTE Allegedly Taking Cash Without Receipt in General Coach, Viral Video Triggers Railway Response
A viral train video showing a passenger confronting a Travelling Ticket Examiner over alleged cash collection without receipt has triggered outrage online and prompted an official response from Railway Seva. The incident has reignited debate over accountability, unofficial payments, passenger rights, and alleged corruption inside train coaches.
According to the viral footage, the passenger confronted the TTE after noticing that Rs 700 had allegedly been collected from poor passengers without any official receipt being provided. While recording the incident, the passenger questioned the railway official in front of the entire coach, asking why money had been taken without documentation.
In the video, the passenger can be heard asking the TTE why Rs 700 was collected from the children without issuing a receipt. In response, the TTE allegedly stated that a receipt would only be issued after an additional Rs 950 was paid. The passenger immediately challenged the statement and questioned why the initial Rs 700 had been accepted if the total amount required was Rs 1,650.
The passenger further argued that the TTE might leave the train at a later station, after which another official could allegedly harass the same passengers again due to the absence of valid documentation. The TTE, however, maintained that he had never refused to issue a receipt and repeatedly stated that the full amount of Rs 1,650 needed to be paid first.
The first 45 seconds of the viral video largely capture the verbal exchange between the passenger and the railway official. Later in the footage, the passenger allegedly records the moment when the TTE accepts the cash payment inside the coach.
The video was shared on X by Rahul Saini through the account @JtrahulSaini. While posting the clip, he alleged that the TTE accepted Rs 700 inside the train without issuing any receipt and claimed that the official was caught on camera collecting money openly in broad daylight. He also questioned whether disciplinary action would be taken against the railway employee.
As the video gained traction online, Railway Seva officially responded to the controversy. The railway support account stated that the matter was concerning and requested the train number along with a mobile number in order to facilitate a prompt investigation and resolution of the incident.
The viral controversy also triggered intense debate among social media users, with many questioning both the conduct of the TTE and the passengers involved. Several users argued that the issue raises a larger question about why unofficial cash payments are made in the first place.
One user commented that the real issue was not only why the railway official allegedly accepted the money, but also why passengers agreed to pay without demanding official documentation. Another social media user suggested that the person recording the video likely possessed a valid ticket, which gave him the confidence to confront the TTE publicly, while the passengers paying the money may have preferred silence in exchange for securing seats despite allegedly travelling without proper tickets.
Some users also expressed skepticism about whether strict action would actually be taken. One comment alleged that such incidents are part of a larger system where multiple individuals allegedly receive shares, leading to matters eventually being settled internally without major consequences.
The incident has once again drawn attention to allegations of unofficial cash collection practices inside trains and has intensified public discussion over accountability, transparency, and passenger rights within the railway system.
