Jawa 42 Bobber Wins ‘Viewer’s Choice Style Icon of the Year’ at Times Drive Auto Summit and Awards
Jawa 42 Bobber has won the ‘Viewer’s Choice Style Icon of the Year’ at the Times Drive Auto Summit and Awards, highlighting its bold design philosophy, cultural impact, and engineering excellence. The motorcycle, launched in September 2022, continues to redefine India’s mid-size motorcycle segment with its unique styling and premium features.
The award recognises the motorcycle’s bold design philosophy and strong visual identity, which has significantly reshaped expectations in its category. The honour was presented at the prestigious ceremony where Nivedita Matta, Brand Lead for Jawa at Classic Legends, received the award from Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India.
Since its launch in September 2022, the Jawa 42 Bobber has stood out for its unapologetically singular design approach. The motorcycle features a low-slung profile built around a floating single seat, creating a silhouette closer to a custom-built machine than a mass-produced motorcycle. Its extended wheelbase, wide rear tyre, and sculpted stance have made it one of the most recognisable two-wheelers on Indian roads.
The model is developed on a design-first engineering philosophy, reinterpreting the classic bobber format with modern precision. Premium finishes, including Chrome Red and Black Mirror variants, along with diamond-cut alloy wheels and minimalist bodywork, contribute to a cohesive and premium design language rooted in individuality and expression.
Anupam Thareja, Co-founder of Classic Legends, stated that the recognition validates the company’s belief that intentional design has the power to shape culture. He noted that the Jawa 42 Bobber was created to challenge conventional motorcycle design and reflect individuality, positioning it as a machine built not for versatility, but for expressive identity and emotional connection with riders.
Beyond its design appeal, the Jawa 42 Bobber has developed a strong cultural footprint. It has been embraced by riders who value individuality, including cricketers MS Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad, further strengthening its cross-generational appeal. It has also gained popularity among content creators and lifestyle communities, becoming a prominent presence in urban riding culture.
Mechanically, the motorcycle is powered by a 334cc liquid-cooled engine producing 29.9 PS of power and 30 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox and assist and slipper clutch. It also features modern equipment such as a digital instrument console, full LED lighting, USB charging, and dual-channel ABS, combining performance with everyday usability.
The Jawa 42 Bobber continues to evolve through new variants such as Chrome Red, expanding its design vocabulary while maintaining its core identity of bold minimalism and expressive styling.
The recognition at the Times Drive Auto Summit and Awards further consolidates its position as a defining style statement in the Indian motorcycle market.
