The child, Manavi Singh, a Class 1 student from Salempur Kon village near Lakhimpur city, recorded and posted a short video addressed to District Magistrate Anjani Kumar Singh. In her message, she said, “DM uncle, you are very good. Please get the road near my house repaired.” The video also showed her walking through a waterlogged, brick-paved road leading to her home, highlighting the daily hardship faced by residents.
The video quickly gained traction online and reached the District Magistrate, who was deeply moved by the child’s concern. Responding promptly, Anjani Kumar Singh visited the village along with a team of officials to assess the situation firsthand. He interacted with Manavi, offered her biscuits and sweets, and assured her that her complaint would be addressed.
During the inspection, the District Magistrate found that the brick road connecting Manavi’s house to the main road was severely damaged and uneven. Rainwater and overflow from nearby drains had accumulated on the road, making it difficult for residents and schoolchildren to commute safely. Officials confirmed that the problem had been causing daily inconvenience to locals.
Acting on the findings, the District Magistrate immediately ordered repair work to begin, ensuring that the road would be restored without delay. He also directed a thorough inspection of the area and acknowledged broader concerns of unplanned development. During his visit, he cautioned residents about the risks associated with irregular land plotting and advised them to verify proper drainage systems, electricity access, and road layouts before purchasing residential land.
