Praveen Togadia Issues Stark Warning to Bangladesh’s Yunus Government Over Food and Water Dependence

Former VHP leader Praveen Togadia issues a strong warning to Bangladesh’s Yunus government, highlighting the strategic importance of food and water resources and raising concerns over regional dependence and diplomatic sensitivity in South Asia.

Ahmedabad: Former Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Praveen Togadia has delivered a sharp and controversial warning directed at Bangladesh’s Yunus administration, raising concerns over regional dependence on essential resources such as food supplies and water. Speaking at a public event in Ahmedabad, Togadia asserted that Bangladesh could be forced into a position of extreme vulnerability if access to rice, salt, and river water were curtailed.

In his remarks, Togadia emphasized the strategic importance of food security and water availability, describing them as decisive factors that can determine the stability and resilience of any nation. He claimed that denial of these critical resources could effectively push a country “to its knees,” underscoring what he portrayed as Bangladesh’s reliance on external sources for basic necessities. His comments were framed in the context of regional geopolitics, where control over resources often carries significant strategic leverage.

Togadia’s statement did not reference any immediate policy actions but was positioned as a broader warning about the balance of power in South Asia and the role of shared natural and economic resources among neighboring countries. He suggested that food grains and river water, particularly in densely populated regions, hold immense political and strategic value beyond their economic importance.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Bangladesh government or the Yunus administration addressing Togadia’s remarks. Political observers note that such statements are considered highly sensitive in the context of bilateral relations and are generally interpreted as political rhetoric rather than formal policy positions. Analysts caution that comments touching on resource access and national vulnerability can inflame diplomatic tensions if taken beyond the realm of domestic political discourse.

The episode highlights the fragile nature of regional diplomacy in South Asia, where shared rivers, trade dependencies, and historical ties often intersect with sharp political messaging. While Togadia’s remarks have sparked debate, their broader significance lies in how resource security continues to shape political narratives and regional relationships in an already complex geopolitical environment
