“Vote Theft Will Not Be Tolerated”: AAP MP Sanjay Singh Launches Sharp Attack on Centre Over Electoral Rights

AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, speaking in Lucknow, accused the central government of undermining voting rights and warned against attempts to manipulate elections. He said voting is a constitutional right and vowed that AAP will not allow any erosion of democratic processes.

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh — The integrity of India’s electoral process came under sharp political focus on Tuesday as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh accused the central government of undermining citizens’ voting rights, declaring that his party would resist any attempt to tamper with the democratic mandate.

Speaking in Lucknow, Singh asserted that the right to vote is a constitutional guarantee belonging to the people, not a privilege that can be manipulated by those in power. He said AAP would stand firmly against what it views as systematic efforts to weaken democratic institutions and distort the electoral process.

In a strongly worded attack, Singh alleged that practices aimed at influencing or misappropriating votes posed a grave threat to democracy. Drawing a sharp analogy, he remarked that while the public has long heard of theft involving vehicles or valuables, the current situation reflected something far more dangerous — the erosion of voting rights themselves. Such actions, he warned, strike at the very foundation of representative governance.

The AAP leader emphasized that India is governed by its Constitution and that free and fair elections are the core of its democratic framework. Any attempt to compromise electoral fairness, he said, would not be accepted by the public. Singh also called upon party workers and supporters to remain vigilant and actively safeguard the sanctity of the voting process at every level.

His remarks come amid heightened political tensions over electoral transparency and administrative accountability, with opposition parties increasingly questioning the conduct and fairness of democratic processes. Singh’s statement signals AAP’s intent to position electoral integrity as a central political issue, framing it as a broader battle to protect constitutional values and public trust in democracy.
