₹1.096 Million Embezzlement Allegation Rocks PAC Unit in Meerut; SI and Constable Suspended

Two PAC personnel in Meerut have been suspended after allegedly embezzling ₹1.096 million from the government treasury by manipulating salary records on the treasury portal. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to determine accountability and recover losses.

A financial misconduct case has triggered swift administrative action in Meerut after serious allegations of embezzlement surfaced within the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). Two serving police personnel have been suspended following the detection of irregularities involving public funds, raising concerns over internal financial controls.

The case pertains to the 6th Battalion of the PAC, where Sub-Inspector Mukesh Kumar and Constable Ashish were posted in the accounts branch. According to official sources, the duo is accused of siphoning off ₹1.096 million from the government treasury by manipulating salary-related entries on the treasury portal. The discrepancy came to light during a financial review, prompting authorities to verify records and assess the extent of the loss.

After confirmation of the damage to the state exchequer, senior officials ordered immediate disciplinary action. A criminal case has been registered at Pallavpuram police station, formally initiating legal proceedings against the accused personnel. Police authorities stated that the alleged tampering involved unauthorized alterations in salary data, resulting in wrongful withdrawals.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that further action will be taken strictly in accordance with the law once responsibility is conclusively established. Internal inquiries are also expected to examine procedural lapses and identify whether systemic weaknesses enabled the alleged fraud.
