Luxury Cars, Loud Sirens, and a City on Edge: Meerut Police Crack Down After Viral Stunt Video

Reckless driving by luxury cars with sirens in Meerut’s Begumpul market sparked chaos and fear, with stunt videos going viral on social media. Police registered a case, began searching for the accused, and the SSP removed the Sadar Bazar SHO for negligence, signaling strict action.

Meerut was jolted into action after a disturbing display of reckless privilege unfolded in the busy Begumpul area, where a group of affluent youths allegedly brought traffic to a standstill by driving cars fitted with sirens and performing dangerous stunts in the heart of the market. The incident, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, triggered swift administrative and police intervention.

According to officials, the youths drove through the crowded Begumpul market area with hooters blaring, creating chaos, blocking traffic, and instilling fear among shopkeepers and pedestrians. The public nuisance escalated when videos surfaced online showing the vehicles being driven in a hazardous manner, drawing sharp criticism from local residents and social media users alike.

The viral footage prompted immediate action from the police leadership. Taking serious note of the lapse, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) ordered the removal of Sadar Bazar Station House Officer Vivek Rai from his post, citing negligence in maintaining law and order in the area. The officer has been attached to the police lines pending further proceedings.

Police have registered a formal case in connection with the incident and launched a search operation to identify and apprehend the occupants of the cars involved. Authorities confirmed that efforts are underway to trace the vehicles and individuals seen in the video, with assurances that strict legal action will follow once they are identified.
