Truecaller Appoints Meta and Samsung Veteran Sandeep Bhushan to Board Amid Strategic Monetisation Push
Truecaller has appointed former Meta and Samsung executive Sandeep Bhushan to its Board of Directors as the company accelerates its shift toward a diversified B2B SaaS and premium advertising strategy. The move strengthens Truecaller’s leadership amid rapid global growth, expanding enterprise verification services, and rising focus on consumer trust and monetisation.
Bhushan brings more than 25 years of experience across consumer, digital, and media sectors. He most recently served as India Director of Global Marketing Solutions at Meta, where he led and expanded a multi-billion-dollar business in one of the company’s largest and most complex global markets. During his tenure, he played a major role in driving broader digital economic participation across India’s rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.
His professional journey also includes senior leadership roles at Samsung, where he managed marketing and operator partnerships for the smartphone business. Bhushan was also a founding member and Chief Operating Officer of WSJ-Mint, contributing significantly to the development of one of India’s most influential business media platforms. Earlier in his career, he spent more than a decade at Unilever in leadership roles, building expertise across consumer businesses and brand ecosystems.
The appointment comes at a crucial phase for Truecaller as the company reshapes its advertising and revenue strategy. The platform is moving away from heavy dependence on traditional programmatic display advertising and focusing instead on a diversified high-intent B2B SaaS model alongside premium rich-media advertising formats. The strategy is aimed at reducing dependence on third-party advertising partners while increasing revenue through direct enterprise relationships.
Bhushan’s experience in scaling monetisation strategies, navigating consumer and media markets, and maintaining long-term user trust is expected to support Truecaller’s next phase of expansion. The company has recorded strong growth in recent years and now serves more than 500 million active users globally. Since its launch, the platform has crossed more than one billion downloads and identified and blocked nearly 68 billion unwanted calls in 2025 alone.
Commenting on his appointment, Sandeep Bhushan said that Truecaller has created a global-scale platform where trust and monetisation must evolve together. He stated that as digital ecosystems continue to mature, maintaining this balance becomes a defining competitive advantage. Bhushan added that he looks forward to working closely with the Board and management team to shape the company’s future growth trajectory.
Truecaller Co-founder Nami Zarringhalam described Bhushan’s appointment as an important addition to the Board. He said Bhushan’s experience in scaling monetisation and consumer businesses across leading global platforms, combined with his understanding of high-growth markets such as India and the Asia-Pacific region, would provide valuable strategic direction as the company expands multiple revenue streams.
Bhushan currently serves as a Board member at Traya Health. The company confirmed that he holds no shares in Truecaller and is considered independent in relation to the organisation, its management, and its major shareholders.
Headquartered in Stockholm since 2009, Truecaller has emerged as one of the world’s leading communication platforms. The company has been publicly listed on Nasdaq Stockholm since October 2021 and continues to strengthen its enterprise verification and advertising businesses across high-growth regions including India, the Middle East, and Latin America.
The appointment of Sandeep Bhushan signals Truecaller’s aggressive focus on scaling sustainable monetisation while preserving consumer trust, a balance increasingly critical in the rapidly evolving global digital communications industry.
