Sunburn Festival Returns to Mumbai in Expanded Vision with Two-Day Format and “Awaken the Core” Theme for 19th Edition

Mumbai is set to witness the return of one of India’s largest electronic dance music festivals as Sunburn announces its 19th edition with a renewed format, new venue strategy, and a redefined creative direction.

The festival will be held on December 18 and 19, 2026, at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai, one of the city’s most prominent centrally located large-format event venues. The celebrations will conclude with a closing party scheduled at NSCI Dome on December 20, extending the festival experience beyond its main programming.

Organisers have confirmed a shift to a condensed two-day format for the core festival days, describing it as a strategic decision aimed at delivering sharper programming and a more intense flow of performances. The additional finale at NSCI Dome is intended to extend audience engagement and enhance the overall experience.

The 2026 edition carries the theme “Awaken the Core”, marking what organisers describe as an evolution of the festival from visual spectacle to deeper musical intensity, and from large-scale presentation to concentrated experiential impact.

Mahalaxmi Racecourse, the chosen venue, carries a legacy of hosting landmark electronic music performances in Mumbai, including Avicii’s early India performance in 2011, Swedish House Mafia in 2013, Martin Garrix in 2016, and a Keinemusik performance earlier this year.

Ticket sales will be conducted through BookMyShow. An exclusive pre-sale for RuPay Credit Card holders will open on May 14 at 12 noon, followed by a registered user pre-sale on May 16 at 12 noon. General ticket sales will open for all audiences on May 18 at 12 noon.

Karan Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Sunburn, stated that the festival has consistently evolved with its audience at its centre, becoming a defining cultural tradition within India’s music landscape. He added that every decision for the 19th edition, including the shift to Mahalaxmi Racecourse and the restructured format, has been guided by a focus on enhancing the audience experience.
