India Shatters Renewable Records with Historic 45 GW Solar Surge in FY 2025-26
India achieves a historic milestone in renewable energy by recording its highest-ever annual solar capacity addition of 45 GW in FY 2025-26. Led by Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, the nation also set a monthly record of 6.65 GW in March 2026. This surge reinforces India's commitment to energy security and a Viksit Bharat while SECI delivers a 115 crore rupee dividend to the MNRE.
The momentum reached a fever pitch in the final month of the fiscal year, with the country recording 6.65 gigawatts of solar capacity in March 2026 alone. This figure represents the highest-ever solar installation achieved within a single month in India's history. During this record-breaking period, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu emerged as the top-contributing states, further accelerating the journey toward a more energy-secure landscape. Parallel to these infrastructure gains, the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited underscored the sector's financial viability by handing over a dividend cheque of one hundred fifteen crore rupees to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy today. This fiscal contribution, combined with the massive capacity additions, cements India’s position as a global leader in the green energy transition, ensuring a resilient and sustainable foundation for the generations to follow.
