Fake Branded Food and Household Goods Racket Busted in Delhi, Four Arrested
Delhi Police Crime Branch busted a major counterfeit goods racket supplying fake Amul, Patanjali, Tata Salt, Eno and other branded food and household products across Delhi-NCR. Four accused were arrested and large quantities of fake goods and machinery were seized.
According to the police, the accused were producing and distributing fake products bearing the labels of well-known companies such as Amul, Patanjali, Madhusudan ghee, Tata Salt, Eno, All Out and Veet. These counterfeit goods were allegedly sold at cheaper rates while being passed off as genuine, deceiving consumers and causing significant financial losses to the original manufacturers.
The Crime Branch carried out coordinated raids in Uttam Nagar and the Kanjhawala industrial area, where four individuals were apprehended red-handed. The arrested accused have been identified as Nitin Kumar, Rajat Singhal alias Chintu, Surender Gujjar and Mujahid alias Kartik. During the search operations, police recovered large quantities of fake ghee, Tata Salt, Eno, All Out and Veet products, along with machinery and equipment used for manufacturing counterfeit ghee.
Investigators revealed that the accused sourced low-cost raw materials and repackaged the products using counterfeit branding to make them appear authentic. The illegal operation not only posed a serious threat to public health, particularly due to the circulation of fake food items, but also undermined consumer trust and brand integrity.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain, distribution network and possible involvement of additional suspects. Police officials said efforts are ongoing to identify retail outlets and wholesalers who may have knowingly or unknowingly sold the counterfeit goods.
The bust highlights the growing challenge posed by counterfeit consumer products in urban markets and underscores the need for stricter enforcement and consumer awareness. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on such rackets to safeguard public health, protect legitimate businesses and maintain market integrity.
