Lawyers Hold Second Day of Protest Against Musafirkhana SDM, Demand Official Inquiry

Lawyers in Musafirkhana, Amethi, staged a second day of peaceful protests against the local SDM, alleging inappropriate conduct and demanding a formal inquiry. Police maintained tight security at the tehsil premises as advocates called for accountability and administrative action.

Tensions simmered at the Musafirkhana tehsil headquarters in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district as lawyers continued their protest for a second consecutive day, raising serious allegations against the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). The demonstration underscored growing friction between members of the legal fraternity and local administrative authorities.

According to those participating in the protest, the lawyers have accused the SDM of behaving in an inappropriate and discourteous manner. The allegations prompted advocates to gather within the tehsil परिसर to voice their concerns and press for accountability. Protesters insisted that the matter be formally investigated and that appropriate action be taken if the allegations are found to be valid.

Despite the strong sentiments expressed, the protest remained peaceful throughout. Local police were deployed in significant numbers to ensure law and order, maintaining heightened security across the tehsil premises to prevent any untoward incident. Officials closely monitored the situation as the demonstration unfolded without disruption to public safety.

The protesting lawyers reiterated that their demands are rooted in maintaining professional dignity and institutional respect within the justice delivery system. They emphasized that administrative officers must uphold decorum in their interactions with members of the bar, noting that such disputes, if left unresolved, could strain working relationships between the judiciary and the executive at the grassroots level.

As the protest entered its second day, the situation highlighted the need for constructive dialogue and transparent inquiry to address grievances on both sides. The outcome of the demands raised by the lawyers is likely to influence not only administrative conduct in Musafirkhana but also broader interactions between legal professionals and local authorities across the district.
