Drunk Driving Tragedy in Bahraich: Retired Orderly Killed as Car Ploughs Into Family Outside Home

A quiet evening in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district turned fatal when a speeding car driven by an allegedly intoxicated youth rammed into a family gathered outside their home, killing a retired orderly and leaving his wife and son seriously injured.

The incident occurred in Asharfa village under the jurisdiction of Dargah police station. According to police officials, the victims were sitting outside their house warming themselves by a bonfire when a neighbour’s car suddenly veered out of control and struck them. The impact proved fatal for the elderly man, who had retired from service as an orderly, while his wife and son sustained severe injuries.

Local residents rushed to help and alerted the authorities. The injured were immediately shifted for medical treatment, where they are currently undergoing care. Police said the driver of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. An FIR has been registered against the accused neighbour, and a formal investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances leading to the crash.

District administration officials stated that arrangements have been made to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured family members and that security measures in the area have been reviewed following the incident. The accused driver is being questioned as part of the ongoing probe.
