Congress Steps Up Opposition Role in Madhya Pradesh, Signals Major Organisational Expansion in the New Year
The Madhya Pradesh Congress says it has played a strong opposition role over the past two years and is preparing for major organisational expansion in the new year. Party chief Jitu Patwari announced plans to form new committees from panchayat to ward levels between January and mid-February.
State Congress president Jitu Patwari said the party, backed by its leaders and grassroots workers, has consistently raised public interest issues and maintained pressure on the government through legislative interventions as well as mass outreach. According to Patwari, this sustained effort has helped the Congress project itself as a credible and active opposition force across the state.
He highlighted that under the party’s ongoing organisational rejuvenation drive, new district and block-level leadership teams have already been constituted across Madhya Pradesh. These units, he said, are actively engaged in strengthening the organisation at the grassroots while taking up local concerns and mobilising public support on key issues.
Looking ahead, Patwari announced that the Congress plans to significantly accelerate its organisational activities in the new year. From January 1 to February 15, the party will roll out a structured expansion programme that includes the formation of Panchayat Congress Committees, committees for municipal councils and municipal corporations, as well as ward-level Congress bodies. Alongside this, new mandal presidents will also be appointed as part of the wider restructuring exercise.
The leadership believes this extensive organisational revamp will not only reinforce the party’s presence at the local level but also enhance its preparedness for future political challenges. With an emphasis on grassroots mobilisation and internal consolidation, the Congress aims to sharpen its political strategy and deepen its engagement with voters across Madhya Pradesh in the months ahead.
