Himanta Biswa Sarma Backs Modi’s Decisive Leadership, Takes Swipe at Congress
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisive leadership in Guwahati, saying he knows when to take the right decisions, while taking a sharp dig at the Congress and highlighting the Centre’s record on timely development and welfare implementation.
In a pointed remark aimed at the Congress, the Assam Chief Minister said the party was in no position to lecture the Prime Minister on decision-making. Without naming specific leaders, Sarma suggested that the Congress lacked both the political clarity and administrative experience to offer meaningful guidance on governance matters, particularly when compared to the current government’s record.
Sarma highlighted that the Modi government’s strength lies in its capacity to translate decisions into timely action, a quality he said has ensured the smooth implementation of development projects and welfare schemes across the country. According to him, this decisiveness has helped accelerate progress in multiple sectors, benefiting citizens through faster delivery of public services and policy outcomes.
Emphasising administrative efficiency, Sarma noted that strong leadership at the Centre has enabled coordination between the Union government and states, allowing key initiatives to reach the ground without prolonged delays. He credited this approach with reinforcing public trust in governance and strengthening institutional performance.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid ongoing political sparring between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, as national leaders trade barbs over governance, policy direction and leadership credentials. Sarma’s statement reinforces the BJP’s narrative of projecting Prime Minister Modi as a decisive and results-driven leader ahead of future political challenges.
By firmly backing the Prime Minister and dismissing opposition criticism, Sarma underscored the broader political message that the BJP sees decisive leadership as central to governance, development and electoral appeal, positioning it as a key contrast with its rivals.
