Bulandshahr Court Hands Life Sentences to Five Convicted in Brutal Highway Gang Rape and Robbery Case
A Bulandshahr court in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced five men to life imprisonment in a brutal gang rape and robbery case involving a family travelling from Noida to Shahjahanpur. The crime occurred on July 29, 2026, and followed a large-scale police investigation into 11 accused.
The verdict stems from an incident that occurred on the night of July 29, 2026, when a family was travelling by road from Noida to Shahjahanpur. According to the prosecution, the accused intercepted the vehicle on a highway, forcibly stopped the family, and subjected the mother and daughter to sexual assault before looting their belongings and fleeing the scene. The attack left the victims traumatised and triggered a major police operation across multiple districts.
After examining the evidence and hearing arguments from both sides, the Bulandshahr court found five accused—identified as Zubair, Sajid, Dharamveer, Naresh and Sunil—guilty of the charges. The court sentenced all five to life imprisonment, citing the gravity of the crime and its devastating impact on the victims.
Investigators had initially identified a total of 11 individuals in connection with the case. During the course of the probe, one accused died, while two others were killed in separate police encounters. Three additional suspects were later dropped from the investigation after they were found not to be involved, officials said.
The case drew sustained attention from law enforcement agencies due to its seriousness and the public outrage it generated. Prosecutors told the court that the crime was premeditated and executed with extreme cruelty, warranting the harshest punishment under the law.
The life sentences mark a significant moment for the victims and their family, as well as for the justice system, underscoring the courts’ stance on crimes of sexual violence and highway अपराध. The ruling sends a strong message on accountability and reinforces the legal consequences awaiting those who commit such grave offences.
