Sanjay Singh Targets Centre Over Pollution Deaths and Mounting Trade Pressures

AAP leader Sanjay Singh criticises the Modi government over rising pollution deaths and growing global trade pressures, alleging lack of parliamentary debate and concern. He highlights annual pollution fatalities and warns that high foreign tariffs threaten India’s economy.

Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh has launched a sharp attack on the Narendra Modi-led government, accusing it of failing to prioritise two of the country’s most pressing challenges — environmental degradation and economic stress — despite their growing impact on public life.

Speaking in Uttar Pradesh, Singh said that air pollution alone claims nearly two million lives in India every year, yet the issue has not received even 20 minutes of serious discussion in Parliament. He argued that the scale of the crisis demands sustained debate and urgent policy intervention, something he said is conspicuously missing from the Centre’s agenda.

Beyond environmental concerns, Singh also raised alarm over emerging trade pressures on India. He pointed to the imposition of a 50 per cent tariff by the United States and claimed that countries such as Mexico are also moving to levy similar tariffs on Indian goods. According to Singh, these developments pose a direct threat to India’s economic stability, export competitiveness, and employment prospects.

The AAP leader alleged that despite these warning signs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains indifferent to both environmental and economic challenges confronting the country. He said the government’s lack of visible concern reflects a disconnect from issues that directly affect citizens’ health, livelihoods, and long-term national interests.

Singh urged both the government and the public to treat pollution and trade-related challenges as urgent national priorities. He called for swift, effective measures to address rising pollution levels and to safeguard India’s economic interests in an increasingly protectionist global trade environment.

His remarks add to the broader political debate over governance priorities, as opposition leaders continue to question the Centre’s handling of public health risks and external economic pressures, issues that are likely to gain further prominence in national discourse.
