Mohan Bhagwat Urges Citizens to Be a Guiding Light for the Nation, Invokes Savarkar’s Ideals

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, speaking in Vijaypuram, invoked the ideals of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, urging citizens to contribute to the nation through duty and responsibility. He said that even if one cannot become a symbol of nationalism, everyone can strive to be a guiding light for the country.

Vijaypuram: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday delivered a message of civic responsibility and national commitment, calling on citizens to contribute to the country’s progress in whatever capacity they can. Speaking at an event in Vijaypuram, Bhagwat reflected on the legacy of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, using his life as a moral reference point for public conduct and patriotism.

Addressing the gathering, Bhagwat said that not everyone may be able to rise to the stature of Savarkar or become a towering symbol of nationalism. However, he stressed that every individual can still play a meaningful role in the nation’s journey. Drawing a metaphor, he remarked that even if one cannot become the “sun” of patriotism like Savarkar, one should at least strive to be a “lamp” that spreads light for the country.

Bhagwat highlighted Savarkar’s ideals as a source of inspiration, emphasizing that patriotism is not limited to grand gestures or historic acts. Instead, he underlined the importance of everyday responsibility, ethical conduct, and active participation in national life. According to him, citizens strengthen the nation by fulfilling their duties with sincerity and by contributing positively to society through their actions.

The RSS chief’s remarks focused on individual accountability and collective progress, reinforcing the idea that nation-building is a shared responsibility. By invoking Savarkar’s example, Bhagwat sought to remind people that commitment to the country can be expressed through consistent effort, discipline, and service, regardless of one’s position or prominence.
