Noida: BMW Bursts Into Flames On Greater Noida Expressway, Driver Escapes Unhurt By Jumping
Fire officials said a team was sent to the spot after a call was received at the control room. The blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes, but the vehicle was completely gutted. A short circuit is believed to have triggered the fire.
The car was being driven by Naresh Kaushal, an interior design businessman from Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar. He had travelled from his Okhla office to Sector 82 for work earlier in the day, using his diesel BMW, which carries a Haryana registration number. After finishing his meeting, he was on his way back to Delhi when the incident occurred.
Kaushal said he noticed other motorists signalling to him as smoke began rising from the engine area. He slowed down, pulled over to the side and stepped out just before flames erupted.
According to him, the vehicle had not been used for nearly 20 days due to GRAP restrictions on diesel cars. He suspects that a rat may have chewed through wiring while the car was parked, potentially causing the short circuit.
Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey confirmed that the fire service responded quickly and prevented the flames from spreading further. An investigation into the exact cause of the fire is underway.
