Speeding Tractor-Trolley Mows Down Couple in Bahraich; Wife Killed, Husband Critically Injured
A speeding tractor-trolley crushed a motorcycle near Kotwa village in Bahraich’s Nanpara area, killing a woman and critically injuring her husband. The couple was returning home with market goods when the accident occurred. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and launched an investigation into the fatal crash.
According to police officials, the couple, residents of Bardaha Bazaar village under the Khairighat area, had been returning home with goods purchased from the Rupaidiha market for their small vending business. Their journey was cut short when the fast-moving tractor-trolley approached from behind and crushed their bike near Kotwa, leaving no time for them to escape.
Passersby alerted authorities, and emergency responders rushed Dilip Kumar to Bahraich Medical College, where he is undergoing treatment. Police later sent Suman’s body for post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials stated that efforts are underway to identify and take action against those responsible for the vehicle involved in the fatal crash.
The incident has sparked concern among locals over the rising number of accidents involving speeding agricultural vehicles on rural roads. For the grieving family and the community, the tragedy underscores the persistent dangers faced by commuters in the region and the need for stricter road-safety enforcement.
