SIR In Hapur: Voters Allege Arbitrariness By BLOs; SDM Warns Of Strict Action
Progress Report: Mixed Performance
Officers have been deployed alongside BLOs at all 370 booths to ensure smooth operations.
Status: Approximately 80 per cent of the SIR work in the tehsil has been completed with ten days remaining.
Discrepancies: While some BLOs have performed excellently and completed their tasks, others are lagging, with completion rates stuck between 50 and 60 per cent.
Complaints Of Arbitrary Behavior
Serious allegations have been raised against some BLOs regarding the distribution and submission of forms. Several voters claim they are being arbitrarily denied SIR forms.
Case Study: The 'External Voter' Issue Yogesh Thakur, a resident of Harauda village, alleged that the concerned BLO is refusing to provide the SIR form to his family members and has marked him as an 'external voter' on the form.
Voter's Claim: Thakur stated that although he works in another city, his house and land remain in the village.
Voting History: His name has been on the voter list since 2003, and he voted in the last Lok Sabha election.
Action: Thakur has declared his intention to file a formal complaint with the authorities. Other villagers have reported similar issues where forms are being withheld without valid reasons.
Administration’s Stance
Taking note of the situation, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shri Ram Yadav conducted inspections at several booths on Monday. He instructed the BLOs to expedite the process to meet the deadline.
Garhmukteshwar SDM, Shriram Yadav said, "All BLOs must complete the work in a time-bound and impartial manner. If any BLO is found acting arbitrarily, strict action will be taken against them. I am personally inspecting the booths."
