NIT Tiruchirappalli and Kauvery Hospital Sign MoU to Launch Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Technology
NIT Tiruchirappalli and Kauvery Hospital sign an MoU to launch a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Technology starting July 2026, integrating engineering and healthcare through internships, research, and industry-led learning aligned with National Education Policy 2020.
The initiative introduces a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Technology, designed to offer a comprehensive, industry-integrated learning experience. The programme will include microcredit courses, expert-led lectures, hands-on internships, and real-world projects, ensuring students gain both academic knowledge and practical exposure.
The programme will be offered by the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering at NIT Tiruchirappalli and is scheduled to commence in July 2026. It will feature microcredit courses, guest lectures by industry experts, on-site internships at Kauvery Hospitals, and student projects addressing real-world healthcare challenges. The initiative also includes provisions for joint research and continuing education opportunities.
The MoU formalising this collaboration was signed by Dr. G. Aghila, Director, NIT Tiruchirappalli, and Dr. S. Manivannan Selvaraj, Founder and Managing Director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals. Commenting on the initiative, Dr. G. Aghila stated that the Postgraduate Diploma programme has been thoughtfully designed to address current challenges and emerging trends in the healthcare sector, in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020. She emphasised that the collaboration between the strong technical capabilities of NIT Tiruchirappalli and the clinical expertise of Kauvery Hospital will drive meaningful research and innovation, while creating structured pathways for higher education, research, and advanced professional certifications aligned with evolving industry needs.
Dr. S. Manivannan Selvaraj noted that the collaboration reflects a commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world healthcare practice. He added that the partnership aims to provide meaningful industry exposure to students through guest lectures, structured internships, and hands-on projects, marking a significant step in strengthening healthcare education, research, and skill development in the country.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Dr. S. T. Ramesh, Dean (Academic); Dr. G. Uma, Dean (Industrial Development); Dr. M. Umapathy, Professor (Higher Administrative Grade); and Dr. K. Srinivasan, Head, Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering. Faculty members present included Dr. Ramakalyan, Dr. N. Sivakumaran, Dr. Sridevi, Dr. Periasamy, Dr. P. A. Karthick, and Dr. Geetha.
Dr N Sivakumaran, Professor, Department of ICE, has been appointed as Course Coordinator for the PG Diploma programme.
This collaboration represents a decisive move towards aligning academic innovation with healthcare practice, reinforcing the role of institutional partnerships in advancing education, research, and skill development in India’s evolving healthcare landscape.
