Haldwani Rocked by Largest-Ever Jewellery Heist, Crores in Gold and Cash Stolen
Haldwani witnesses its biggest jewellery heist as thieves break into Radhika Jewellers using gas cutters, stealing gold, silver ornaments and cash worth over ₹1 crore. Police, forensic teams and dog squads are investigating, suspecting a professional gang behind the crime.
The burglary took place at Radhika Jewellers, located in one of the city’s busiest commercial areas. According to showroom owner Navneet Sharma, the perpetrators exploited an adjacent construction site to execute the crime. Using gas cutters, they breached a wall from the neighboring premises and gained access to the showroom without raising immediate suspicion.
Once inside, the thieves systematically cleared display counters and storage areas, making off with a large quantity of precious jewellery and cash. An attempt was also made to break open a major safe inside the showroom, but the effort failed, possibly due to time constraints or technical difficulty.
Police were alerted early the following morning, prompting a swift response. A team led by officer Amit Kumar arrived at the scene, and the investigation was immediately expanded with the involvement of forensic experts and a dog squad. Evidence is being collected from multiple points within and around the showroom, while CCTV footage from the area is being closely examined for leads.
Investigators suspect the involvement of a professional theft syndicate, citing the precision of the operation and the tools used to breach the premises. Officials have indicated that several angles are being explored and expressed confidence that the case will be cracked soon.
The incident has sent shockwaves through Haldwani’s trading community, particularly among jewellers and shop owners, who are now questioning the adequacy of existing security measures. As the investigation continues, the case has highlighted growing concerns over organized crime targeting high-value commercial establishments in rapidly developing urban centers.
