Inside Job Uncovered: Noida Police Crack ₹2 Lakh Underpass Robbery, Five Arrested
Noida police have cracked a ₹2 lakh robbery near the Sector-62 underpass, arresting five accused including a company driver and a former employee. The stolen cash, a car and a fake pistol were recovered, with investigators revealing the crime was an inside job planned using shared location data.
According to police officials, the robbery was not a random act but the result of a deliberate conspiracy. The plan was allegedly masterminded by Ompal, a driver employed by the company transporting the cash, along with Veer Pratap, a former employee familiar with the firm’s internal operations. Leveraging their access to sensitive information, the accused tracked the movement of cash being transported from Delhi to Noida and devised a strategy to intercept it.
Investigators revealed that the driver himself was behind the wheel during the incident, ensuring the operation unfolded as planned. The accused reportedly used Snapchat to share live location details among themselves, enabling precise coordination during the robbery. The crime took place near the Sector-62 underpass, where the cash was forcibly taken.
Following a detailed investigation, the Sector-63 police team arrested all five accused and recovered the entire stolen amount of ₹2 lakh. Police also seized the car used in the crime and a fake pistol, which was allegedly used to intimidate during the robbery.
Authorities have initiated further legal proceedings and are examining whether similar methods were used in other incidents. Police officials emphasized that the swift arrests and full recovery underscore the effectiveness of coordinated investigation and digital evidence tracking.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the risks posed by insider threats and highlights the growing role of technology—both as a tool for crime and for law enforcement—in modern criminal investigations.
