FIFA Unveils $60 World Cup Tickets in Bid to Ease Pricing Backlash Ahead of 2026 Tournament

FIFA has announced a limited $60 “Supporter Entry Tier” ticket for the 2026 World Cup, covering all 104 matches. The move aims to address criticism over ticket pricing, with discounted seats allocated through national football associations for fans of qualified teams.

Facing growing criticism over the affordability of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, football’s global governing body has announced a new low-cost ticket category designed to widen access for supporters of participating nations. FIFA confirmed on Tuesday that it has introduced a limited $60 “Supporter Entry Tier,” marking its most direct response so far to concerns about rising ticket prices for the expanded tournament.

According to FIFA, the discounted tickets will be available for all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup, including the final, offering fans a rare opportunity to attend games at a significantly reduced cost. The new pricing tier will account for 10 percent of the ticket allocations assigned to Participating Member Associations (PMAs), which represent the national teams competing in the tournament.

The PMAs will oversee the distribution of these tickets through their respective fan ticketing programmes, ensuring that the reduced-price seats are reserved specifically for supporters of qualified teams. FIFA said this approach is intended to maintain fairness in allocation while strengthening the connection between national teams and their fan bases.

The announcement comes amid sustained scrutiny of World Cup pricing, particularly as the 2026 edition—set to be the largest in the competition’s history—spans three host countries and features an expanded field of teams and matches. While FIFA has defended its broader pricing structure as necessary to support operational and organisational costs, the introduction of the tier signals an effort to balance commercial realities with accessibility for ordinary fans.

As preparations accelerate for the tournament, the success of the Supporter Entry Tier is likely to be closely watched by fans, federations and critics alike. Its rollout could play a key role in shaping public perception of FIFA’s commitment to inclusivity as the sport prepares for one of its most ambitious global events.
