Bhagwant Mann Hits Back at Congress, Accuses Party of Moral Hypocrisy

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann strongly rebuked the Congress in Chandigarh, accusing the party of moral hypocrisy and alleging it once put a price on constitutional offices. He said corrupt opposition leaders have no right to question his government’s integrity or lecture on honesty.

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched a sharp political counterattack against the Congress on Thursday, dismissing its criticism and accusing the party of lacking moral authority to question his government’s integrity. Mann said the Congress should focus on examining its own conduct instead of making allegations against others.

Addressing the remarks directed at his administration, the Chief Minister alleged that the Congress had previously reduced constitutional positions to bargaining tools. He argued that a party which, in his words, “puts a price on the office of Chief Minister” cannot claim to represent public interest or effectively address people’s concerns.

Mann further asserted that political opponents with a history of corruption have no standing to lecture his government on honesty or ethics. He described such criticism as politically motivated and disconnected from the real issues facing citizens, maintaining that his administration remains committed to clean governance and accountability.

The exchange reflects the deepening political friction in Punjab, where rival parties continue to trade accusations over governance, integrity, and public trust. Mann’s remarks signal an aggressive stance by the state government as it seeks to defend its record while questioning the credibility of the opposition.
