UP Police on Emergency Duty Accused of Drunken Negligence as UP–112 Vehicle Crashes into Drain, Five Suspended

According to official sources, the accident occurred while the UP–112 vehicle was on active duty in Aligarh district. Preliminary findings indicate that the policemen inside the vehicle were intoxicated at the time, resulting in the loss of control and the vehicle overturning into a drain. A crane was later deployed to retrieve the damaged government vehicle from the site.

The situation escalated further after the recovery operation. When the crane operator demanded payment for his services, the police personnel allegedly assaulted him. The altercation triggered chaos at the scene and drew public attention, raising questions about accountability and conduct within the emergency response unit.

Following an investigation into the incident, authorities suspended UP–112 constables Manoj and Krishna for their direct involvement. In addition, Sub-Inspectors Mukesh and Udayveer were placed under suspension for failing in their supervisory responsibilities, particularly regarding vehicle monitoring and operational oversight. Another police official was also suspended as part of the disciplinary action, bringing the total number to five.

Senior officials stated that the suspensions were issued to uphold departmental discipline and send a clear message that misconduct, especially while on emergency duty, will not be tolerated. Further departmental proceedings are expected as the matter continues to be examined.

The incident has sparked concern over the integrity of emergency policing services, which are meant to ensure public safety during critical situations. Authorities have emphasized that strict action is essential to restore public trust and reinforce professional standards within the force.
