Elderly Woman’s Body Recovered from Canal on Abohar-Hanumangarh Road; Second Fatality in Days Grips Region
An elderly woman’s body was recovered from the canal on Abohar-Hanumangarh Road today, marking the second such tragedy in the area within two days. The unidentified woman, aged approximately 60 and wearing a white suit, was moved to the mortuary by police and the Nar Seva Narayan Seva Samiti. Authorities are seeking public assistance for identification following a recent student drowning.
The Nar Seva Narayan Seva Samiti played a pivotal role in the recovery operation, with members Bittu Narula and Sonu Grover responding to initial reports of the sighting. Upon arriving at the scene, the Samiti members immediately alerted the 112 police helpline, ensuring the recovery was conducted under official supervision. The deceased, whose identity remains shrouded in mystery, was found dressed in a white suit and was notably wearing gold-like earrings.
Station House Officer (SHO) Davinder Singh confirmed that the body has been shifted to the local hospital mortuary for a 72-hour preservation period to facilitate identification and the subsequent post-mortem examination. In a bid to solve the mystery of her identity, the police have disseminated information to all neighboring stations, cross-referencing recent missing person reports.
