India and South Korea Forge 'Futuristic Partnership' as PM Modi and President Lee Jae Myung Ink Pivotal Agreements in New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung held landmark talks in New Delhi to establish a futuristic partnership. The summit saw the signing of four MoUs covering sports, culture, and SMEs, alongside a joint declaration to upgrade the CEPA and launch the India-Korea Digital Bridge. Both leaders pledged expanded cooperation in Defence, AI, and Shipbuilding.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung solidified a transformative diplomatic trajectory today during high-level delegation talks in New Delhi, elevating the bilateral relationship from a trusted partnership to a strategic, futuristic alliance. The summit, marked by the signing of four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), underscored a mutual commitment to deepening cooperation across the sectors of sports, cultural and creative industries, and the establishment of an Industrial Cooperation Committee specifically designed to bolster Small and Medium Enterprises. In a significant move toward economic integration, the two leaders exchanged a joint declaration to resume negotiations for upgrading the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and established the Framework for the India-Korea Digital Bridge.

Addressing a joint press briefing, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that democratic values, the market economy, and a profound respect for the rule of law are ingrained in the DNA of both nations, forming the bedrock of their diplomatic synergy. Highlighting a shared outlook regarding the Indo-Pacific region, the Prime Minister noted that the bilateral ties have remained comprehensive and dynamic over the past decade. He asserted that the visit of President Lee serves as a catalyst to convert this longstanding trust into a forward-looking partnership. Responding to the warm reception, President Lee Jae Myung lauded India’s emergence as a definitive leader in the Global South and pledged to expand collaborative efforts in the critical domains of Defence, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Shipbuilding. This high-stakes meeting redefines the geopolitical landscape of Asia, signaling a unified front between two of the world's most robust democracies.a
