From Mountain Trails to Mumbai Crowds: Actor Raghav Juyal Reflects on the Evolution of His Driving Journey

Actor Raghav Juyal discusses his transition from the dangerous mountain roads of Uttarakhand to the crowded streets of Mumbai. From mastering a Willys jeep without handbrakes to navigating the Atal Setu and SoBo, Juyal reflects on how diverse terrains have shaped his patience and skills. Discover his journey through the Himalayas, Nepal, and the "vintage vibes" of South Mumbai.

Uttarakhand native and "Bad Newz" actor Raghav Juyal has opened up about the stark juxtaposition between the treacherous mountain terrains of his youth and the patience-testing congestion of Mumbai. While currently based in the metropolis, Juyal maintains a deep-rooted connection to his hometown, frequently returning to navigate the Himalayan roads with his circle of friends. The actor admits that life in Mumbai presents unique logistical hurdles, fundamentally altering his relationship with the steering wheel. Describing himself as a mountain driver at heart, Juyal notes that the crowded nature of Mumbai has necessitated a shift in his temperament, forcing him to cultivate a level of patience previously untested.

The experience of navigating Mumbai is fundamentally different for the actor, who largely prefers the backseat to stay productive on his phone during the week. However, he finds solace in driving to South Mumbai (SoBo) on Sundays to indulge in kebabs before returning home. When his childhood friends from Dehradun visit the city, Juyal personally conducts a "Mumbai darshan," taking them through the Lokhandwala backroads, town for its vintage vibes, and the Atal Setu. He notes with amusement how his friends are often baffled by the local traffic, comparing the relentless swarm of auto-rickshaws to buzzing flies.

Contrasting the modern infrastructure of the city with his rugged upbringing, Juyal recalls a far more perilous era of driving in Uttarakhand. He mastered the craft behind the wheel of a Willys jeep, a vehicle notably lacking a handbrake. In those days, the narrow mountain passes offered no margin for error, where a singular mistake could result in a fatal plunge. These high-stakes conditions transformed him into a highly skilled, hands-on driver. While he observes that the roads in his home state have since become wider and safer, his passion for the open road extends beyond India's borders. The actor frequently embarks on motorcycle expeditions through Nepal, Bhutan, and the rugged landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, balancing his high-profile career with the raw discipline of the road.
