TCS Suspends Nida Khan Amid Allegations of Forced Conversion and Sexual Harassment in Nashik

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) suspends process associate Nida Khan following allegations of forced religious conversion and sexual harassment at its Nashik unit. Amid a police investigation involving seven arrests and claims of HR negligence, the case has drawn a probe demand from Devendra Fadnavis. Khan, currently seeking anticipatory bail, remains at the center of this evolving corporate scandal.

The Nashik unit of IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been plunged into a deepening scandal following the suspension of Nida Khan, a process associate accused of involvement in a harrowing case of forcible religious conversion and sexual harassment. The suspension, effective as of last week, marks a significant escalation in a controversy that has seen multiple employees placed under the scanner as the company asserts a zero-tolerance policy regarding workplace harassment. An official suspension letter accessed by NDTV, dated April 9 and signed by the HR head for Nashik, Pune, and Goa, Shekhar Kamble, describes the situation as a "serious matter" that has necessitated the immediate revocation of Khan's network access and her removal from all official duties.

Khan, who joined the company in December 2021, is currently implicated alongside her brother, Danish Sheikh, in a case that began when a female complainant alleged that Sheikh established a physical relationship with her under a false promise of marriage in 2022. It was later revealed that Sheikh was already married to another woman, a fact allegedly concealed by Khan and another individual, Tausif Akhtar. According to police reports, Khan exacerbated the victim's trauma by making derogatory remarks about her faith and exerting pressure on her to change her religion. The internal crisis at TCS intensified as seven more women subsequently stepped forward to report that senior colleagues had subjected them to mental and sexual harassment, claims they allege were previously ignored by the human resources department between February 2022 and March 2026.

The administrative fallout has been swift, with the company’s HR head instructing Khan to surrender all company assets and refrain from contacting any other TCS employees to maintain strict confidentiality. While the police have already arrested seven employees—including six men and a female HR head—Khan had initially been on the run. However, her family has recently disclosed that she is in Mumbai and expecting her first child. Her legal counsel, Baba Sayyed, has approached a local court in Nashik for anticipatory bail, arguing that there are no serious allegations against her and that she had merely discussed the matter, while leveraging her medical condition as a primary factor for her application.

This scandal has drawn significant political attention, with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asserting that "no one will be spared" and seeking a central agency probe into the systemic failures at the TCS Nashik unit. The company maintains that it is fully cooperating with the police investigation, yet the sheer volume of complainants suggests a pervasive culture of silence that the management is now forced to confront. As the legal proceedings unfold, the case stands as a stark reminder of the complexities of corporate accountability and the profound impact of alleged criminal misconduct within the professional sphere.
