Rajasthan Election Row: Congress Alleges Systematic Voter Deletion as EC Extends Revision Deadline

Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasra accuses the BJP and Election Commission of conspiring to delete thousands of Congress supporters from Rajasthan's voter lists. Citing massive deletions in Jhunjhunu and Mandawa alongside 140,000 alleged fake registrations, Dotasra slams the move as a direct attack on democratic rights and electoral integrity.

In a scathing indictment of the electoral process in Rajasthan, senior Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasra has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of orchestrating a strategic manipulation of voter lists. The Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee President claims that the recent extension of the voter list revision deadline was not a routine administrative measure, but a calculated move designed to purge Congress-leaning voters from the rolls. Dotasra’s allegations have sparked a fresh political firestorm, bringing the impartiality of electoral institutions into the spotlight ahead of critical polls.

The Congress veteran asserted that his party’s previous apprehensions regarding the misuse of the Supplementary Integration Roll (SIR) have now been vindicated. According to Dotasra, the extension provided the necessary window for a large-scale, targeted deletion of legitimate voters. Highlighting what he termed "alarming" data from specific assembly constituencies, Dotasra pointed to the Shekhawati region as a primary target of this alleged purge. He revealed that in a single day, 13,882 forms were struck down in Jhunjhunu, while Mandawa saw a staggering 16,276 deletions. Further discrepancies were noted in Udaipurwati and Khetri, where 1,241 and 1,478 forms were reportedly rejected, respectively.

Beyond the deletion of existing supporters, the Congress leadership has leveled an even more serious charge: the systematic "seeding" of the electoral rolls with fabricated entries. Dotasra alleged that while genuine voters are being disenfranchised, approximately 140,000 fraudulent forms have been processed and registered to bolster the ruling party's prospects. This dual-pronged strategy—purging opposition sympathizers while inflating the list with proxy voters—is being characterized by the Congress as a direct assault on the fundamental tenets of democracy and the sanctity of a citizen’s right to vote.

As the political climate in Rajasthan intensifies, these allegations place significant pressure on the Election Commission to demonstrate transparency and address the specific data points raised by the opposition. The controversy transcends mere partisan bickering, touching upon the structural integrity of the democratic process. Should these claims of mass voter suppression hold weight, it could lead to widespread legal challenges and a crisis of confidence in the state's electoral machinery. For now, the Congress appears set on making "voter protection" a central theme of their campaign, framing the upcoming election as a battle to safeguard the constitutional rights of the Rajasthani electorate against institutional overreach.
