Poonch Police Seize Assets of Notorious Terror Handler Operating from PoJK
In a major crackdown on cross-border militancy, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached the assets of Abdul Aziz, a notorious terror handler based in PoJK. Following a court order, authorities seized property worth 22 lakh in the Poonch district, targeting the financial roots of the terror ecosystem and sending a stern warning to fugitives operating from Pakistan.
The primary target of this legal crackdown is Abdul Aziz, son of Ahmada Loni, a native of the Chamber Kanari area in the Mandi tehsil of Poonch. According to official police records, Aziz crossed the Line of Control years ago to evade Indian law enforcement and has since established himself as a key operative for terror outfits. From his base in PoJK, he has been identified as a "handler" responsible for inciting local youth and coordinating conspiracies against the security and sovereignty of India. Despite repeated public appeals and formal opportunities to surrender, Aziz remained defiant, prompting the judiciary to declare him a "Proclaimed Offender."
The attachment of property, valued at approximately 22 lakh, was carried out by the Poonch District Police in close coordination with the Revenue Department. The administrative action was formalized under the legal framework of Sections 2/3 of the E&I MCO Act, stemming from an original case filed at the Mandi Police Station (FIR No. 07/2002). The seized assets include specific plots of land identified during a thorough investigation into Aziz’s ancestral and personal holdings. This move is part of a broader strategy to ensure that those who abandon their homeland to wage war against it face immediate and tangible consequences, regardless of their physical location.
Senior officials within the Poonch Police administration emphasized that this seizure is more than just a financial penalty; it is a psychological deterrent intended to disrupt the support networks that facilitate terror operations. By stripping a declared terrorist of his local assets, the state sends a clear message to both the handlers abroad and their potential sympathizers at home that the law will eventually reach their interests. This action underscores a shift toward "economic warfare" against militancy, ensuring that the roots of terrorism are severed at the source while maintaining a high level of pressure on those who continue to manage terror modules from foreign soil.
