School Bus Plunges Into Ditch After Steering Failure in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh

A school bus carrying around 30 students crashed into a ditch in Pratapgarh’s Amhara village after an alleged steering failure. Two children were seriously injured and hospitalized, while police and local residents carried out swift rescue efforts at the scene.

A routine school commute turned into a moment of panic on Tuesday when a school bus carrying dozens of children lost control and crashed into a roadside ditch in Pratapgarh district, leaving two students seriously injured and triggering an urgent rescue response.

The incident occurred in Amhara village under the Kandhai police station limits, where the bus, operated by Shri Ram Murti Public School, reportedly became uncontrollable after a steering malfunction. According to officials, nearly 30 schoolchildren were on board at the time of the accident.

Eyewitnesses said the vehicle veered off the road before plunging into a deep pit, causing chaos and fear among the young passengers. Local residents rushed to the scene moments after the crash and began helping children out of the damaged bus even before emergency services arrived.

Police teams soon reached the spot and coordinated with villagers to ensure all students were safely evacuated. Two children sustained serious injuries in the accident and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The condition of the remaining students was reported to be stable.
