Curry Ignites Second-Half Surge as Warriors Pull Away from Magic in 120–97 Victory
Stephen Curry scored 18 of his 26 points in the second half as the Golden State Warriors pulled away from the Orlando Magic for a 120–97 win in San Francisco. Jimmy Butler added 21 points as Golden State surged after halftime to secure a dominant victory.
After struggling early and missing all six of his three-point attempts in the first half, Curry found his rhythm after the break. He poured in 18 of his 26 points in the second half, turning the game with a crucial three-pointer midway through the third quarter that narrowed the deficit to 71–69. That basket sparked a dominant 14–4 run, flipping the contest firmly in the Warriors’ favor.
Playing through discomfort in his left ankle, the two-time MVP finished 10-of-23 from the field and knocked down four of his 13 attempts from beyond the arc. Beyond his scoring, Curry added six assists and contributed defensively with two steals as Golden State asserted control on both ends of the floor.
Jimmy Butler provided steady support with 21 points, while Moses Moody matched that output with 20 points of his own. Brandin Podziemski delivered a strong performance off the bench, scoring 16 points while adding five assists and four rebounds. Draymond Green, returning after an early ejection in Saturday’s game against Phoenix, logged 18 minutes and contributed nine points and seven rebounds.
Orlando, playing the first game of a road back-to-back, was led by Paolo Banchero, who recorded 21 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. Desmond Bane added 20 points for the Magic, but the team was unable to keep pace once Golden State surged in the third quarter.
Golden State guard Buddy Hield, whose streak of 199 consecutive regular-season games played had ended in Saturday’s win over the Suns, connected on a late three-pointer. Jonathan Kuminga remained sidelined due to illness, while head coach Steve Kerr expressed optimism that center Al Horford could return Thursday after missing seven games with right sciatic nerve irritation.
The convincing win highlighted the Warriors’ depth and resilience, as well as Curry’s enduring impact when the game is on the line. With key players potentially returning soon, Golden State appears poised to build momentum as the season progresses.
